So I just finished my MS and was wondering if there are any Epi doctorate programs that let you "transfer" your courses so you don't have to take all the same courses all over again? It's been my understanding that unless you finish up the PhD at the same school, you start from scratch if you go to another school, though I thought maybe there might be somewhere that lets you take an exam to waive those courses or something..

From my understanding, most schools won't let you transfer any credit over. They may, however, allow you to substitute a course so you don't have to take the same one over.

However, keep in mind that any courses you substitute, you'd still be responsible for that material on the qualifying exam, which may present questions in a different way than you've seen before.

Thanks for posting raston...I was wondering the same thing but my case is a little different since I did the MPH and not the MS.

In MN, we are allowed to bring in 15 credits from our master's degrees (MPH here, doing a PhD now).
