My cc just transitioned to the compressed semester schedule (7 weeks).

Some classes are mixed online lecture/in class labs while others are all in class.

Same material covered.

Have any non trads used this system to gain admittance to med school? Will they be acceptable for prereqs?

This definitely is a curveball for my diy postbac plans.

I cannot say for certain, but I imagine it wont change anything. It might make it much more difficult if you are used to 16 weeks.
I have taken a lot of 8 weeks online and only had a problem with A&P 1 (12 weeks) which had 8 tests so I could not imagine that one at 7 weeks being any fun.

@Mars41 I'm not sure what you mean by "compressed", but I doubt it will matter. I've taken several 3-week "maymester" and "wintermester" courses, as well as 5-week summer courses. This coming semester, in addition to my regular fall schedule that starts in late August and runs through December, I'm also taking a class that doesn't start until mid-October and ends in December, lasting about 7 weeks. Just finished my summer II physics course today with an A! Whoop!

I wouldn't take any med school courses like that. I use the accelerated courses to knock out the histories, govt.. you know, humanities and social science type classes.. I would be afraid of not learning something by taking an accelerated science or math course.

It just means you'll get through the material faster! Wish I could have that choice during the regular semester! Just finished Organic 1 and 2 over the summer. Just don't fall behind, it's a real pain to play catch up in an accelerated course.

I have some experience with this. I like it because it applies more pressure as you cannot get behind, the material is coming at you faster and for me, I perform better under pressure. Don't give me open and free without stress school...I will get bored quickly and start doodling lol. I thrive under pressure so I rather liked the accelerated courses I did.
