Looking for some anecdotal data from current GI Bill users for dental school. How much debt are you taking on, if any? I'm projecting about taking $10K a year for expenses (I have a large family) but was wondering what other people's situations were like. Did the GI Bill truly cover the full tuition and expenses (assuming public institution)? What are some gotchas that I might be overlooking?

Ended up not using the GI Bill and went HPSP. However, The only gotcha I would say you should be careful about is the Private vs. State School differences. If you get in to a state school (regardless of your residency status) you will have a full ride for 3 yrs if you haven't used any GI Bill. Most states will give you the in-state tuition rate for the one year that you're paying for. Iowa and Kentucky were super vet-friendly in my experience.

GI Bill paid 100% school expenses at my state dental school. Also received $4100 monthly BAH (relatively high cost of living zip code).
Benefits will expire midway through last semester D4 year, and at that point I'm not sure what happens.
