And by that I don't mean the Matthew Modine/Daphne Zuniga (whatever happened to her anyway?) movie. Are there any quality videos that show the step-by-step dissecting of cadavers? The books I've seen so far are all in black and white and it's not very helpful (to me at least) because you can't tell where one thing starts and another ends. 😡

there is a series by Dr. Robert A. Acland out of Uof Louisville..called the video atlas of human anatomy. my roomate used it last year. it was good, but i can't study that way. but, each tape is on a section (eg, head&neck, thorax, etc...) and they basically start from the inside and demonstrate everything...no actual dissecting, but a very thourough demonstration.

I don't know about movies, but I know a web site that may be able to help you. Its called the virtual autopsy. It is a web site made for medical students as a learning tool. The web site is:

I don't know of any videos, but there's a fabulous photographic atlas out there. I think the author/editor is Rohen. I used it through all of anatomy, and it really helped me out--looking at the pictures, you see where you should expect to find the structures, and the crystal-clean dissections really help in studying for tests.

I've heard that if you are going into Gyno, that Debbie Does Dallas would be a good one to check out!!!!!

Thanks for links, mpp and Dr. Dad, and for the info, everyone else. I do have Debbie does Dallas (touchdown for Mr. Greenfield, score 1 for Debbie!!) but that wasn't really what I had in mind, Chris. Anyway, I'll order the Rohen book, I had heard about it before but forgot its title. Now thanks to you I found it on Amazon.

Neilc, what did you mean "I can't study that way"? Just curious.

i just meant that if i put in a video and try to study, i just get distracted. the only way i used the anatomy videos last year was for background noise just before exams...i figured if i played it when i wasn't studying it might help....maybe it did, i passed!

Acland gross videos are great. Like the previous poster though I wouldn't use it as a study aid but more as the final tool in learning that particular region. The cadavers are not embalmed and not preserved in any way so structures are very life-like (no pun intended).
