I applied this cycle and have been waitlisted at one school and no news yesterday from the other I interviewed at. My stats are 3.33 sgpa, 3.63 cgpa, and 19 AA/TS DAT.

I'll be graduating this Dec. w/ a degree in business management. I know there's still plenty of time left in this cycle to hear some good news, but I'm just trying to plan ahead for when I move back to Houston after graduating and trying to think of the best way to improve my app incase I need to reapply.

So far I'm thinking of enrolling at a local university to take more upper-level bio classes (only have mbio and A&P 1) to increase the science gpa. I'm wondering if this is the best option? Not too familiar with post bacc's, but not sure if I would qualify since I have all my pre-reqs completed. I'd also retake the DAT. Other areas of my app such as extra curriculars, volunteer work, shadowing, etc. are all pretty good.

Thanks!

Taking classes like immunology, Histology, Endocrinology, Cell Bio etc will look good on your app and def give you a boost to your sGPA to bring to to around 3.4

As for taking the DAT, 19 is not a bad score. But if you do plan to take it, you should get a 21+.

Sounds like a good plan. Go part-time taking only microb and A&P, and at the same time studying hard for the DAT. Based on what you posted, the likely issue with your app from dental schools' perspective is that you haven't satisfactorily demonstrated your ability to succeed in the sciences. Youre a business major who probably has only take the basic required sci courses and performed below the avg on the DAT. So following through with that plan will be your best bet for acceptance next cycle, I honestly wouldnt expect much else from this cycle. Aim for "A"s and 21+ AA/TS and with your GPA youll have a much better time next cycle.

Appreciate the response @Blake1e. I agree that having the bare minimum for pre-reqs might be a red flag to adcoms. Still hoping for some good news though since I have had two interviews.
