Hey guys, I was hoping to give you my highlights and see if you could let me know if there's anything I could be working on to improve my candidacy for med school.

Sophomore Virginia Tech Honors College
Dual Degree: Biochemistry and Psychology
Double Minor- Chemistry and Medicine in Society
Honors Degree: Scholar in Health studies, which just means I take a bunch of english and history and philosophy courses related to health care
Psych GPA - 4.0
BCHM GPA- 3.68
Overall - 3.82
One year as a research assistant
Resident Adviser
Tutor 4 classes- chemistry, general statistics, stats for social sciences, biological stats
SGA student outreach officer.
I started my own organization called actively caring 4 people. This will hopefully become a non profit soon. It is basically a pay it forward thing where we pass out thousands of green wristbands which read actively caring for people to those who care. activelycaring4people.org
Member of bunch of honors organizations.
Undergraduate Honors System Panel Member- punish kids who cheat and save those who don't haha
Volunteer at hospital on Sundays

I am currently doing all of the above things. Is there anything else I shoudl focus on? I appreciate the help!!!

Looks pretty well-rounded. I was going to ask about clinical volunteering, but I see you edited it in. If you wanted to do more, some physician shadowing wouldn't hurt. Otherwise just score well on the MCAT and I don't see a reason why you couldn't be successful in obtaining an MD acceptance if you apply wisely.

Well I shadowed a dr back home but that was only for a day so 8 hours total. I didn't think this was sign. enough to mention.

Any other suggestions or criticisms?

This is a hole you need to fill before sending in AMCAS. Shadowing is an unwritten requirement.

Describe your "volunteering" at the hospital - doing what? Should involve lots of patient interaction, not stuffing envelopes in the back office...and especially since you have virtually no shadowing, it should involve interaction with physicians - not just being in the general vicinity of them.
