  1. Pre-Dental
i had applied to harvard, columbia, nyu, bu, tufts, ucla, usc, loma linda, uop, ucsf, u of michigan, u of illnois, and upenn before taking the dat, but now i'm not so sure that anything is going to work out bc of the pat score. should i apply to other schools? do i have a chance at any of the above schools? is it too late in the cycle to apply anywhere else? any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

I think you're fine, and are probably in at NYU and BU and perhaps USC .. Your DAT is probably good enough for Columbia and PENN despite the 16 on the PAT..

unless you're from California, the UC schools are probably out.. and since UOP focuses on the PAT , that's one may be out as well..

i got a 19 on the PAT and though i know some with 19 on the PAT have interviews at UOP, they took the test earlier than me (Aug 30th).. I don't think i'll get an interview there unfortuantely (it was one of my very top choices)

AS for the other schools, unless there are hard cut-offs then you should be more than fine.. Hopefully your application is complete at all these school, except for the pending DAT scores.. lateness of application i think is more of an issue for you than the 16 pat.. Interview are filling up fast, if not already full.. and dont expect any Pre-Dec 1st interview.. but still the goal is getting in this year and i have a good feeling you will get in

Good luck you to you and Congrats on your DAT! :luck:

you're fine. dont worry. as long as u have ECs, it's all good.

thanks for all the encouragement/advice. so would it be pointless to apply to more schools this late in the cycle?

Maybe engineers can't do PAT? Haha. Though I've been a bio major for one semester, I was BME for 2.5 years. I got a 17 on PAT. 🙄

Does PAT really matter all that much? Seriously...I must be missing something here. I am frequently told that the PAT really isn't emphasized much...at least nowhere near as much as the other sections....but then, why have it on the DAT?

i thought engineers would be much better at visualizing things...or maybe thats just architerctual engineers.

anything that has autocad. i took autocad courses in high school for two years (wanted to be an architect). i found it helped tremendously, especially with the top/front/right side section

the dentist i shadowed said he was very familiar with autocad and he scored in the 100% percentile on the PAT.

jb!

you know that's what i thought too...engineers should be good at pat. what killed me was the angle ranking (like everyone else) i took too much time on that section, so i had to speed through the rest of the test and unfortunately made some mistakes. the other stuff was pretty easy i thought, and i always did pretty well on the practice. who knows. it's over. can't let it get to me.
