I just interviewed with ECU and really liked the town and the students and just wondered if anyone knew any more info about the program.

Thanks

If I'm thinking of the right school, i was NOT impressed..they had me waiting 1/2 the day for pp to interview me. the residents didn't seem very enthused, and seemed like all of them were FMGs, plus city just seemed boring, small and dirty.

I know about the town but not the program specifically. My brother and sister both lived there for several years -- my brother did his residency there, but not in psych. From what I understand, it's an interesting patient population (very poor, very high minority percentage) with pretty bad access to care.

I wouldn't characterize the town as dirty -- it's actually fairly prosperous, and I think the public schools are good. It's just a smallish town (about 50,000 peolpe and 80 miles away from a big city), so you have to not mind that. The area is very pretty, and you're not that far from the coast.

You have alot more experience w/ town than me. I was only there for 2 days, so maybe it was just the area around the hospital that was dirty.

Well, there is a lot of poverty in the area, and I think it's a traditionally backwards region in NC. And most smallish towns aren't very aesthetically pleasing, imo.

To me, the biggest downside of the area is that you're so far from a major airport. I've spent lots of time on the 80 mile drive between Raleigh and Greenville.
