Hello fellow dentists and dental students,

I know this might sound a bit crazy, but I’m currently looking for any last-minute open spot for a GPR starting this year (2025–2026 cycle).

I graduated from dental school in the U.S. back in 2020, but due to a combination of COVID, financial struggles in my family, and mandatory military service in my home country, I wasn’t able to practice for the past five years. Despite all of that, my passion for dentistry never faded. I kept studying, reading textbooks, attending seminars/lectures, practicing restorative dentistry on manikins... and doing my best to stay current with the field.

Recently, I came back to the U.S. and even managed to get a job offer. But to be honest, I was shocked at how rusty my hands had gotten. I still remember the theory and didactic knowledge, but my clinical skills definitely need a refresh. It's been really discouraging, and I just wish I could learn more clinical skills and feel confident myself.

So here I am, reaching out to the community. I know it’s super late, but if anyone knows of a GPR spot that opened up last minute or was canceled and needs to be filled—please let me know. I’m also looking for programs that can offer J1 visa sponsorship.

I’ve been checking SDN, Reddit, and reaching out to programs, but any help or tip would mean a lot.

Heard the ECU AEGD program recently had a spot open up at their Sylva, NC location. Worth reaching out about at least.

Program director is Dr. MacPherson ([email protected])

You might want to reach out and call programs. I think its pretty common for schools to have some openings for GPR.

Try those two newly accredited programs, may still have some spots left.

ECU has openings! I called recently and got accepted into the program today.
