I see that straight-MD folks over in the pre-allo forum started getting interviews. Has anyone received an MD/PhD interview yet?

No but JHU could be reviewing my application and deciding within the next few days! I got an email saying my application was complete and that it would be sent to reviewers over the next couple of days - scary!!!

Same. Also very nervous. I wonder how soon they will notify us if interviews start in late September??

I'm not sure but I was talking to a director of one of the MD/PhD programs (he was visiting my school to talk about the MD/PhD path) and he said that the early ones usually get the least amount of notice.

cornell told me i was complete, and that my app would be reviewed at the next meeting, though they never tell you when that is. yikes! im still drowning in 2ndaries though.

Was that today? The notification that is. I got an email saying I was complete except I had forgotten to email them the names of the MD/PhD recommenders. So I may be in the same boat as you!

Best of luck to all of us!

i got it on the 23rd, heres the exact thing:

"This is to inform you that your application to our Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program is complete as of today. The committee will screen your application at its next meeting, and we will let you know their decision when it is conveyed to us."

Please give me an interview Cornell. I love you.

Yeah, just send them the list of your recommenders and you should be fine.

Already did - kinda felt like an idiot forgetting to do something so simple. Over the past 2 days or so I've completed about 8 - 10 secondaries....what can I say, I was feeling productive. You can do it! Once you hit about 5 or so secondaries, a lot of the essays can be reused....

Here's to 4 - 5 more weeks of summer!

Same except for I had already e-mailed them the list about a month ago and evidently they lost it. I've e-mailed Cornell now three times for various reasons and have never received a reply. They're one of my top choices but seem to be very disorganized, or perhaps just don't care.

Ok I just got an email back saying I'm complete (same one as you marctam86) so you should be hearing from them pretty soon solitude....if not, email them at [email protected] - they obviously got my email today!

ok - back to pretending to be productive!

OK you're right--just got it. Good luck trying to be productive in July! (I'm failing miserably at it.)

God, when did you send in your secondary? I sent it eletronically in early July and submitted the paper form as well. They sent me a message a few days ago saying that they had received my secondary application. I don't know if they meant they received the electronic form or the paper form. Anyway, I sent in my letters on July 6, and I have never heard from JHU about it (whether they received the letters or not). Any insight regarding this will be appreciated. Maybe the letters were lost in mail? Should I resend the letters or should I contact the adminstration?

I'm pretty sure mine was sent late June. Don't worry, they'll let you know your application is complete and by they I mean the MD/PhD office. If you haven't heard from them by the middle of August, I'd contact them seeing as it probably took about a month for me to be verified as complete by JHU.

In other news, did anyone receive a disturbing small envelope from UW only to find it didn't even apply to us MSTP applicants?

The one that says 'You are out of region, you should consider applying to UW's MSTP' ? I remember that one, freaked me out 😉

Yeah i got that awhile ago. I obiviously know i cant go straight MD there from california. I'm no tree hugger, but i really think it was a waste of paper.

This thread is dieing, has anyone gotten any interviews yet?

*sigh*

I have an MD-only interview at UVM - they called me to tell me that they haven't reviewed MD/PhD applications yet, and those interviews wouldn't take place until January.

I chose to keep my October MD interview. I figure it'll be easier for the MD/PhD people to decide to interview me if I'm already in the medical school. Or I could shoot myself in the foot, get rejected, and that's that.

Just think, you'll do kick-a$$ on this interview, impress the MD side of UVM's MD/PhD committee AND have an interview under your belt already so when you have an interview at BIG NAME HERE school, you won't choke!

woooo Inuranic - officially the first to have an interview out of this tiny group of people!

Ahaha, thanks J.

I'm surprised that UVM was the first. One of the schools I applied to sent me an email after I had completed my secondary, "urging" me to get my LORs in because they felt I was a "strong candidate".

This was early/mid-July. I scramble to get the letters in, only to find out recently they probably won't start sending invitations till October. D'oh.

Atta boy MSTP, atta boy.
