I've just watched

"something the lord made"

he is the one who helped a surgeon start with the operation for TOF tetralogy of falot.

so... johns hopkins operated on the first successful heart surgery.

well....

is ther any other movies that you would suggest?

any.. other medical movies that would motivate u with ur studying? lol

I'm going to put in a plug for "What about Bob?" Classic Bill Murray.

I didn't really care much for that film. Rickman wasn't really right for the part IMO.

The best med school movie I've seen is still "Gross Anatomy" starring Matthew Modine and Daphne Zuniga. It's a pretty accurate picture of MS 1 (except for the inference that GA is the hardest class in the first year).[/QUOTE]

Agreed. I'm suprised how many people have NOT seen this movie. I love the parts where he's interviewing.....

the thriller Pathology is coming out in February. according to the pathology chair here, "any publicity is good publicity"

The doctor-god complex in "Malice" is quite inspiring. 🙂

Unfortunately physicians have been much more inspiring portrayed on TV than in movies, so there isn't really a great medicine movie out there.

I liked The Island, about using human clones for organ donation. Plus pretty actors.

House M.D.
Watch a whole season straight to make it into a movie lol

As much as I love house, I think the first season was the best. It does stay interesting, but the "did he just say/do that" kinda stops being new. Great show though!

Yep--that scene is linked from my sig. 👍

Hmmm... someone had recommended that I watch that, but for some reason when I looked for it at the video store and found "Greys Anatomy" (movie - not the TV show), I thought that was what she suggested. Grey's anatomy is a ridiculous "documentary" type movie that is all about this Christian Scientist seeking a solution outside of medicine for his eye problem... It was very stupid and I couldn't understand why she recommended I watch it. I guess she probably said Gross Anatomy... 🙄

I think I enjoyed "The Doctor" but that's about the only doc movie I can think of. I would just recommend watching A Few Good Men, Fight Club, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas because they are all great movies. 👍

"Awakenings" with Al Pacino, Vin Diesel, and Robin Williams is a classic. It's about Oliver Sacks (Robin Williams) testing L-Dopa on catatonic patients.

That new movie 'awake' or whatever should come out soon.

You know, the one where the guy discovers a plot to kill him only because he isn't sedated properly in the OR? and he pulls out his ET tube very dramatically?

should be a cool docu-drama!

I just watched 2 recently:

M1:
Gross Anatomy: Liked it. Seemed sort of realistic for a med school movie.

M3:
Vital Signs: Kind of boring. The politician from Heros was in it. The best part was the sex scene.

"And the Band Played On"

It's a movie about the first cases and identification of AIDS in America. It's more of a docu-movie-mentary, but it's good.

All the movies are superb however when I was an undergrad I watched local TV shows/interviews put on by a renounded physican by the name of Tom Irons. He is a super nice guy with alot of class who interviews health leaders in Eastern North Carolina where the Brody School of Medicine is located. Any carolinians out there should check this out. The gastric bypass was actually developed by one of these guys he interviews Walter Pories. There are alot of interesting topics and discussions. Not movies but still pretty bad ass.

check it out here http://www.ecu.edu/chsc/video/healthleaders.htm

Forget cheesy doctor movies, go see No Country For Old Men

asian HORROR movie "Infection"..

u have to watch it 2 times to understand the story..

a patient die due to malpractice..

and the horror begins...

I love scary movies..😀

Article 99

A movie about a new doctor (Kiefer Sutherland) working in the VA

"Lorenzo's Oil" is worthwhile. The film portrays the true story of Lorenzo Odone, a child born with Adrenoleukodystrophy.

Anyone ever see "The Cider House Rules"? While not a straight up medical movie, I like it a lot and you should too!

I was just thinking that! Definitely a good movie and worth watching.

The car in the movie that the couple shows up in belongs to a friend of mine.

I'm also a big fan of "Outbreak." A real good cast and scary as hell for me when it came out in 1995 I believe... I must have been 9 hah. It got me interested in ID.

Seriously need to see Osmosis Jones
