Any new thoughts on California Northstate and CUSM? Is it worth it to apply as California Residents?

The new match list from Northstate looks pretty decent from what I understand? And CUSM/Calmed seems pretty legit? Is it safe for CA residents to apply to either or both schools?

I can think of several DO schools that had better matches than *CNU (*corrected from CUSM). It wasn't really that great for an MD school.

From my understanding CUSM has not had a match yet. CNU had their first match.
This is correct. CUSM's inaugural class hasn't even started clinical rotations yet.

To answer your question OP, CUSM is legit.
The biggest advantage to going there is that they have their own dedicated teaching hospital at ARMC which has a plethora of GME programs. Eventhough they're a new medical school, ARMC has been around for quite a while serving as a site for Western and Loma Linda students' third and fourth year rotations.

It's basically another case of an established hospital starting their own medical school much like Kaiser.

The only negative that comes to mind is you will probably have to take out private loans for the first year.

CUSM should be eligible for fed loans next summer.

It was about as decent as any mediocre DO school.

CUSM is likely going to be as solid as any other small, state MD school. CNU had a match list that looked like a very average DO school. Western's list was stronger.
