Whats up fellow interns!

I landed an advanced spot this March and haven't really heard anything for PGY-2. Yes I know I have a year, but has anyone heard anything from their advanced places? Just curious if they aren't going to worry about me till next spring or so.

Thanks.

I got a letter of intent to sign and an email with the other students that matched with me

Nice! It's cool your fellow residents contacted you. The letter of intent was your contract with the hospital?

Got a call from the PD a couple hours after match. Email from the PC asking for a non-med school email and a couple more emails from her including a class composite of my future colleagues. No contracts or anything yet.

nah just basically a letter saying sign this to show you are really taking this spot.. no contract yet

Just an email from the program coordinator.

Got a welcome letter yesterday with my fellow residents.

Awesome, thanks guys! Hope everyone is enjoying their month of med school!

I got an email with all of our pictures and someone else from the same med school contacted me to see if I had any questions. I also shot an email to the PD.

Was told I'd get the contract next march.

On tuesday I am heading over to my program. Didn't have an interview day, so I want to see the program.

Dang, I never really thought about that (I am assuming you scrambled). You haven't met or interacted with anyone at the program or seen it. I hope you love it though! Congrats on getting in!

I like the program. Very collegial environment. Friendly residents... the R1s who showed me around are really cool. The first thing I saw when I got there was a ...penis injection (ED test) Resident is on ultrasound. The attendings were really nice... have a great sense of humor. This type of environment is what I love about Radiology. The program is a bit small-ish... 4/year, but the faculty size is big for a program that size. The hospital is really nice... medium sized.

The location is OK at best, but it is relatively close to home region-wise. Lots of golf in the area, which is my primary hobby. However, I can see why people would not find the city as the most lucrative place to live in.... especially being single (like me 🙁) It is 1-2 hours from some major cities though... plus I plan to return home regularly... at least my R1 year.

I would say that this program would have been somewhere in the middle of my list.

I am still disappointed (and will always be) that I did not match to my top..... 11... choices, particularly my home program. But I am excited that I am going to be a radiologist.... things could always be worse.

I just have to endure a year of surgery prelim in the Bronx/NYC. :scared: Completely underestimated the competitiveness of prelim medicine. Had my MS4 year geared towards Medicine.... havent had a real surgical rotation since MS3. Hopefully things will come back to me. Manhattan is an awesome place though.

That is crazy about not matching 11 places! Glad you found a spot though and relatively close to home. I hear you about not being in a very good city. My program is in a bigger city, but it is not the greatest area... but its a really good program. Either way, good luck with your surgery year, you may end up really liking it. I talked to quite a few residents that had done a surgery year and I never heard of any one saying the regretted the experience.
