Q: Does UIC accept anyone from out of state?

The ADEA states they had 66 seats, not one from out of state. However, UIC's website lists out of state tuition as if they may accept out-of-staters. My grandfather is a UI alum, donated lots of money (actually has a scholarship fund set up in my late grandmother's name), and is pressuring me to apply to UIC dental.

Just curious if I'm wasting my time and money applying there. Thanks.

They do give couple seats to out of state students every year but you have to be outstanding academically and personally. The reason for it is because UIC is the only dental school in Chicago land and 66 seats is definitely not enough for such a large area as Chicago. So competition here is CRAZY. I wouldn't apply if I were you unless you have an outstanding score on DAT and your GPA is like above 3.5/4.0.
Good Luck

I have pretty good stats so i'll apply but not get my hopes up. The kicker is that i'm pretty sure my grandpa will foot the bill if i go there so the $60 application fee is more like a low risk, high reward bet...kinda hard to lose 🙂

For 2007 they will be accepting 6 additional out of state applicants because they need the money from out of state tuition...... That what i heard.......

You need to have a really good DAT score to apply from out-of-state. Also, the application fee is $40 not $60.

edit: I had read somewhere that you need atleast 20 on the AA/TS/PA if you are from out-of-state applying to UIC but I couldn't remember where I read that.

thanks guys....can anyone else backup the possibility of accepting out-of-staters next year?
