Saturday, Oct. 23, I am interviewing down at PCSOM. I am excited since from what I have seen stats-wise, they are the type of school that truly does not interview you unless they are dead serious about you attending. I think I even saw an acceptance rate for those out of staters who interview there around 70%. Also, I hear that one finds out the final decision by phone only two days later!

Is there anyone here who has or will be interviewing at Pikeville? Thanks

PCSOM is a great place to interview...it's a very laid back interview and infact you do get the notification if you are in on by next week sometime (Mon-Weds). If you have any questions feel free to ask?

What state are you from? PCSOM only admits less than 10% of out-of-staters......suck.....I found that out after I applied there.....Chances of getting accepted are way against you if you are not from that area...

That isn't totally true. We have people from all over in my class and they defintely number more than 10%. Right now, I can think of people that are from: Conn., Miss., Missouri, Georgia, Tenn., Virginia, Michigan, Arkansas, and West Virginia. (This is more than 10%). But, yes, if you are accepted, you will be notified the next week.

I am from the great state of New Jersey. HOWEVER, I did stress in my essays that I have been schooling/living at Penn State University which is located in the Center of PA and is considered Appalachia.

If I remember correctly, only about 80 out of state applicants are invited for interviews and out of them about 60 are accepted. So to sum it up...if you are out of state and get an interview, it seems like they like you.

Hey pjc199,

I am a 1st year at PCSOM. I will be at the interview on Saturday morning. I look forward to meeting you in person. Do not stress about the interview, you will do fine. It is actually quite a pleasant experience. Let me know if you need any questions answered.

This is not correct information.

Visit my website. You will see that we have all kinds of non-residents in the class of 2008. I, myself, am not from Kentucky either. The school does accept quite of few Kentuckians though.

If you are truly sincere about wanting to be in Pikeville and practice primary care, you should have a good chance of getting interviewed and accepted.

This is a great place to be if you like the small town atmosphere. It is very pretty here in the fall as well.

Good luck to everyone.

ACE

Aaron,
Although I agree that 10% is an incorrect statistic, one only has to look at the Interviews and acceptances threads to see that I am one of three people invited for an interview in SDN and as of now, am the only one accepting the offer.

Trust me, they only interview you if they are interested in you attending the school. In my class there is 1 from Conn., 3 or 4 from Michigan, 3 from Mississippi, 2 from Utah, 3 or 4 from Indiana, 1 from Oregon, 1 from Florida, 2 from Texas, 3 from Missouri, 1 from Nebraska, I am from WV, 2 or 3 from Ohio, 2 from Virginia, 3 from Arkansas, 2 from Georigia. That is all I can think of off the top of my head. But there are quite a few from out of state in my class.

SDN only represents a small portion of the Pre-Med community.

PCSOM has only held one interview date. They interview once a month on Saturdays after our blocks. You will be in the second group interviewed. TRUST ME, PCSOM wont interview someone unless they are serious about wanting them. They will tell you this in the interview.

We can talk more about it on Saturday if you want. Several of my classmates and 2nd years will be there to help out.

One of my best frineds will be going thru the interview on Saturday with you...I hope everything goes well for both of you. Good luck!
