Does anyone know of a poem that talks about a girl that wants to be famous and sees her life one way, but cant get it?

I remember hearing both a song and a poem that follow the trend of girls unable to do what they want to do,or not getting what they see in life - but I cant remember.

Any help?

maybe the song I'm thinking of isn't the correct one. The one I'm thinking about is "Life happened" and its not the girl that can't do what she wants, the main singer (female country artist) went after her dreams and obtained them, but all of her friends around her didn't go anywhere. A girl was going to be something great but ended up getting pregnant, a guy was going to be a racecar driver ended up working as a mechanic, and another guy ended up working in a bar. Basically, each of them had big dreams and couldn't obtain them because of huge things that happened, pregnancy, car wreck etc... "life happened"

Anne Sexton wrote a lot of poems about women whose lives turned out to be different then they expected

can't think of what you're talking about, but dorothy parker rocks so maybe you might find what you're looking for in her poems...

Sounds like my life! .....except I'm not a girl...I don't want to be famous...oh and I'm pretty happy with my life. So..nevermind.

Isn't that kind of the basis for alot of country female singer's songs?
