I have one left that I've been sitting on for several months, but am burned out on writing essays...and it's a pretty lengthy one. I get home from going to school and working 9+ hrs/day and just can't muster the energy to keep going on it. Considering how late it is, and the fact that I've had for a couple months already, is there much of a point to submitting it?

One reason I can come up with is just to cover myself in case I need to reapply. I wouldn't want the school to think I wasn't interested because I didn't finish it this cycle. I do like the school, but my chances there at this point are looking dismal.

You might regret it later on if you don't submit it. If you really care about the school then you should finish it over the weekend. Applying to med school maybe a once in a life time chance. Put all the effort and finish it. If you submit it before Nov 15th you still have a chance. That date is usually the normal cut off time at my school's SOM.

Submit it. I submitted most of my secondaries from mid-October through November last year (late, I know) and still got interviews and an acceptance. SDN gives you a skewed view of average timeline sometimes.
