I have a committee letter which will be sent out on August 5th at the earliest and August 15th at the latest.

Is there any point in getting all of my secondaries submitted before my LORs are sent? I'm not asking about procrastination, etc, but if I finish a secondary, why not just sit on it and wait to submit? My reasoning is that I may even think of something I want to add to the essay later, or get an epiphany and decide not to apply somewhere and save myself some money.

There is no point submitting a secondary before your LORs are ready. Unless you're 100% satisfied with the essay, 100% sure you are applying there, and just want to hit submit for the sake of it.

I did it.

Don't schools infer your interest level on the basis of how soon you submit their secondary?

This is my only concern. I'm still waiting on one of my science letters (joy), so I'd still have to wait even if I submitted now. However, it's been 1.5 weeks since Pitt sent me their secondary and I don't want to give the impression I'm not interested (completely opposite). I'm using the time productively, polishing essays, getting them reviewed, etc. so it's not like I'm waiting for no reason.

Has any adcom confirmed this notion that your turnaround is a sign of your interest? LizzyM?

Sometimes it's nice to just mentally check something off your to do list.

I had a similar situation last year (almost identical Letter date) and I just sent mine in for piece of mind. It was one less thing I had to worry about. That said, I did not send them in till I was 100% satisfied with my work. If you don't feel that way about any of your secondaries, then keep them and work on them till your letters are ready.

funny, I was just about to post the exact same thread. I'm planning to sit on my secondaries till my letters arrive. While it's POSSIBLE they might infer your level of interest based on how fast you submit, they'll also infer your interest based on the quality of your essays. So if your essays are of good quality and it looks like you put effort into them, then I would assume it shouldn't matter in that regard-- they'll still realize you're interested.

I heard ohio state considers you complete without the LORs as far as screening for interviews goes. Not sure if that's true or if other schools do this too.
