Any one Here?

lately some RANDOM people Ive met spoke bad about being an econ major and doing dental. I mean I dont think high of these people and dont mind getting critisized by them --they really were people i met once and probably will NEVER see them again. . .but still --I want your guys thoughts on this? ? ?

I majored in econ. Don't listen to those *****s. The worst that is going to happen is getting questions like "I noticed you are a nonscience major how do we know for sure you can handle a full load of science courses?". Be prepared if the interviewer comes at you like this at a dental school interview. People who speak badly of people because of the major are full of it.

I worked for an oral surgeon who was an economics major. He was crazy-intelligent. Its a tough ass field, if you excel in it there is no reason for anybody to give you **** about it.

I don't think it's bad at all. There are a good number of deans of dental schools out there who hold MBA's in addition to a dental agree, so I doubt they would view it as a weakness.

i met a dentist this summer who majored in econ.

i'm an econ major, currently rolling on through my first year and doing fine so far... except for that micro test we just had. it was terrible

econ majors are smart because in the event they dont get into d school atleast they'll all have real jobs as opposed to bio majors who become lab techs

I kind of randomly fell into a degree in economics in addition to psych, and have gotten many confused looks about the double major. I think some people simply don't understand what economics is. They equate it with the "micky mouse" business majors and accounting and such. They don't understand that it is a mathematically complicated social science. I've also found that a lot of people will take the intros to micro and macro, which are generally regarded as very easy, and so assume that the whole field is a joke. I still wonder why (at least at my school) the intro's were made so easy... probably for the micky mouse business majors who won't actually be needing any economics. My guess is those random people don't know much of anything about economics, and probably know less about dentistry. Next time you come across some know it all jackass, return the favor and let them know what you think of their major and career choice.

At least we are not the 'standard' biology major. "Oh another bio major"🙂
I'm sure admissions see more than enough of those.
