I was wondering if there was any difference between a 3.5 and a 3.55

I'm on a GPA recovery surge right now, and know that I can reach a 3.55 if I take both Summer sessions
But if I don't take any, I can reach a 3.50

But the question is, is it worth it?
Is it better for me to just devote my summer to volunteer work and MCAT??

I think it does make a difference. The difference b/w 3.5 and 3.55 is >>that between 3.9 and 3.95. A 3.55 can pull you stand out from many other applicants.

That is not a very significant difference. The amount of effort your going to need to put into all summer to raise your GPA .05 more is too me, not worth it. I would devote that time on the MCAT, especially if your applying this year. If your not applying this year, then boost your gpa next fall and spring.

My GPA wasn't stellar so its definitely not a deal breaker, but I had a solid all around app, inc. MCAT which produced 10 interviews.

I know my math is weak but I believe the difference is roughly 0.05....

Eric beat me to it -- the difference is precisely five one-hundredths of a point.

As far as being worth it... people here will tell you that your time would be better invested in doing something that will net you a couple of points extra on the MCAT, but then again, neither I nor they know exactly where you sit as far as being prepared for that damn test.

In my opinion, if it's something that you want to do, then you should do it. Are the classes interesting to you? Would there be any other benefits to taking the courses?

It can't all be about looking just a little bit better on paper. We have to play the game, sure, but there's still more to it.
