I submitted my AMCAS last night. I'm still finalizing the list of schools I want to apply to, so I only designated one on the application.

Am I correct in thinking that none of my information will be sent to any school until my application is verified? If this is true, then I need not rush in picking my school list, right? I can take my time and think it over as long as I've got my list finalized by the time my application is verified.

I appreciate any input you all can give. I just want to check that my information and reasoning is correct, and that I won't be hurting myself with this course of action.

They have to proof your transcripts first. Def get a jump on the school list your thinking about so you can start pre-writing your secondaries.

The schools you picked on AMCAS might receive a bit of information about you before verification (such as contact information). It's possible to receive secondaries from some schools before being verified.

But no there isn't any big reason to rush picking schools, other than having more time to prewrite secondaries.

Those who submitted on 6/12/14 have not yet been verified, suggesting that you'll have more than two weeks to thoughtfully research your school list. So don't rush. When you add more schools after verification, the newly added schools will receive your entire application within the same business day.

Some schools (Columbia, Chicago, Dartmouth, Boston, Cincinnati, George Washington, probably more) send secondaries before you are verified but most don't. You won't be complete even at ones that send you a secondary until you are verified though.
