I have two friends who work at different high volume large supermarket chains (not Walmart). They say its just as busy as WAGs and CVS. BUT: People are far more patient. My friends can't stop stressing this fact actually. They are simply amazed by the patience that customers show there. As one of them put it: "I only have to get something ready in 5 minutes like once a day." People just walk around and shop forever. 15-minute waiters come back in an hour sometimes. One of them said that they are turning 24/7 soon and will be hiring him for overnight duty as soon as he graduates. The hours are unique though: 4AM-10AM QD. Pharmacist before that works from 8PM-4AM 5D per Week with some floater on weekends. However, it is extremely low-stress and people don't ask to be rung up at all. They just take their cart to the actual check-out. 24H also means that people can pickup Rxs whenever they like. Same guy said that the only thing he would hate is the lack of finding coverage easily. But he would like the 'overnight' hours.
