I know that both As and A+s are both calculated the same at 4.0, but do acceptance committees value them differently on a transcript? My advisor was telling me how med schools may see an A+ and possibly take that into consideration when granting an interview or acceptance, especially in upper level courses. She only thought this because she stressed how rare it was that she gives an A+ in her classes, and how the students who receive them truly go above and beyond other students on exams, labs etc.

Any opinion on this from anybody?

No significance. But I guess you can feel proud of yourself if you want to.

In other words, you only need to please this man:

But even then, your A+ isn't good enough.

lol A+... Either your extremely smart or that course is extremely easy.

The AMCAS transcript does show the "+" even though the numeric value is the same as an A. I am always impressed to see a bunch of them. If two candidates are otherwise equal, a number of A+s tip the scale. [n=1]

When you put grades into your app, do you put the letter or numerical grade?

And now we know! 👍

Thank you for bringing some clarity to my question!

Since few schools use the + system, it is feasible that most candidates could have earned them had it been possible. For this reason, the +/- system is largely completely ignored by admissions.

Does anybody have a list of universities that put A+ on their transcripts? Asking for a friend.

I had a bunch of A+s and no one ever mentioned them.
