I thought I had a pretty solid app to go for it this cycle, and am getting worried that so far I haven’t gotten any love from schools that are sending out IIs already. Anyone else in this boat? I’m worried that there’s is some red flag on my app that I don’t know about or my secondaries are boring/bad! Just had to get it out!

I'm working on submitting my secondaries right now (only a few left) and I can't help looking back and wondering if they could have been better so I feel you!! But don't lose faith! If you've made it this far, I'm sure you're going to be fine!!

Just out of curiosity, do you mind sharing where you're applying?

As someone who just went through this cycle last year, I can understand how you feel. It is extremely early in the cycle. I was accepted to 2 MD schools last cycle and both of my interviews took place after the new year. If you don't have any interview invites by thanksgiving/december, then you can start worrying

I'm very sorry to hear that, but I'm sure you'll start getting interviews soon 🙂

I was talking to a friend of mine about the differences between schools and she told me that in the end regardless of where you go, you're walking out with an MD from a school certified to teach you medicine. To an extent I think she's right, all that matters is that we walk out competent physicians, right?

I'm not belittling your disappointment in any way, just trying to remind you of the ultimate goal. We've got this!!

I definitely feel the same way but like others have said, it’s unpredictable and being patient is important. @Goro’s constant reminders about delayed gratification have been helpful

After one has submitted his or her secondaries, it does not help to continue checking SDN. Better to continue about your regular life and wait for the schools to get back to you.

Schools get 5,000-10,000 applications and can only process several hundred a week at best. It can take 12 weeks or 3 months to go thru them. Hence why getting in by September to be in the door and now you may wait until November for any movement

Feels like it’s way slower than that considering how long my cycle lasted last year lol.

I'm not worried, just a bit pessimistic. The only II's I got last year were very late in the cycle. This year I applied to many, many more schools and on the first day, but the only news I've gotten so far is some holds. It hurts a little to never be the first pick for any school, makes me feel like a very undesirable candidate.
