Any studies/statistics of effect of gap year on med school performance?

I dont understand the title; what are you specifically asking for?
Like if you take a gap year if your % of getting into medical school increases or decreases. I'm assuming that's what OP wants
 
I think OP is asking about medical school performance for "traditional" students vs students who take a gap year. It probably depends on how "performance" is measured. Pass/Fail would be the only real parameter you could use as school differ with grading scale and such.
 
Only indicator that is available nor would be any reason to expect that prep time between gap and non-gap year sample would be distributed differently
Oh yeah I guess a good control would be the universities of these students. Agreed.

You're asking about possible academic burnout vs. loss of knowledge/study skills?

No problem with that, certainly. But I'd have to imagine that some students fall on each side of the equation, and whether you personally would be better or worse off with a gap year would bear no relationship to the average of what others experience.
