I'm going up to 4th year in 0-6 pharmacy school.
Courses I will be taking are: Drugs and Disease (Skin, Cardio, Renal), Extemporaneous Compounding, and Toxicology.

I'd appreciate any message relating to what I can do this summer to prepare for those courses besides learning drug names and pharmacology classes. What can I study?

Also, do you know any useful study guides, websites or resources?
Do you mind if you send me some notes?

Thanks in advance!

St. John's student,

As far as preparing for the semester, you don't have to really do anything during the summer in terms of studying or reading pharmacy related books.

Take a summer class--best if you take compounding with Madan. This will free up a lot of time for you during the first semester so you can study for D and D's.

If you can't take a summer class, then at least work in a pharmacy because it will teach you drug names (brand/generics) and what the drugs are used for.

In terms of doing well for the semester, talk to your friends, and talk to upperclassmen. You're going to be doing a lot of studying in 4th year and first semester of 5th year.

GL!

Nothing you do now will prepare you for your 4th year... just relax and enjoy the summer...

Just relax. Being able to think, as in analyze and apply what you learn, will get you a lot further than reading and/or memorizing tons of notes/books that may or may not be relevant, because chances are, at this point you don't even know how to read the literature and analyze it and realize what's important and what's not relevant without professor telling you. So don't waste your time.
