I'm applying to dental school this year and was wondering what my chances are of getting into one of the Texas dental schools. Just took the DAT on May 11th. Scores were: AA=22 and PAT=19.
GPA is 3.4
Major is Biochem

If you are a Texas resident, I think your chances are pretty good to get into at least one of the three schools.

my scores were comparable (slight higher on gpa, but less on dat), and I got interviews at all three schools and offered a seat at two. I would say that if you interview well and have a smidge or more of shaddowing you're prolly in good shape. g'luck

Thanks for the feedback. And yes, I am a Texas resident. Good luck with your interviews and test.

I'm a Texan who scored 20/20 on the DAT w/ a 3.9 GPA. I got interviewed at 3 schools and accepted to two. Baylor didn't like me =( I think you should be fine since your DAT score is more than decent. Apply early, make sure you have a good personal statement and rec. letters (believe me, having a good rec. letter got in me...I think). G'luck!

Make sure you apply early. I completed my applications around September and I was in the last group of interviewees at SA and I still haven't heard from Houston about an interview.

*I totally blew my Baylor interview so I won't talk about that one 😛

Yes, I'm going through the application process right now. getting transcripts and LOR's.

Any and all experiences with the process are welcome.

I'm from Dallas applied to all 3 schools. GPA 3.7, major Chemistry, 18 DAT, 6 years of research, 2 publications, lots of shadowing and community service. Didn't hear anything from any Texas schools except the past few months with "we are sorry we had many qualified candidates blah blah blah". Luckily I applied to schools around the country and was accepted at Case, Tufts and ASDOH. I'm going to ASDOH in July.... hum, one of the hardest school to get into in the country yet nothing from Texas. Native born and bred.... bitter... slightly.

Same thing happened to a guy I met while shadowing. Very qualified. No offers from Texas, but got into Harvard. Makes me a little nervous!

DAT: AA - 21, TS - 22, PAT - 24
GPA: 3.5
Applying: 3 Texas schools, Oklahoma, Kentucky
