Any thoughts on VCU?

So I just have received an interview for VCU, but I currents have offers from other school. I am not too familiar with VCU's program but have been doing some research. I would just like to know what everybody thought of the program? Also, they have a tuition and fee calculator which I used and it gave me an estimate of 32k. That seems extremely low seeing as I am out of state AND that includes housing...Is anybody familiar with any of this haha?

Hi, I am a VCU fan because it's my homestate school and it's close to home. VCU has a good program and they just got a new building 🙂.

32k will not even cover you for in-state. The fin. aid. info sheet given out at my interview estimated cost of attendance to be about $65k/year for instate and $86k/year for OOS (those are D1 costs, D2-D4 are $2-3k cheaper than D1).

When did you submit your application (if you don't mind me asking) and how are your stats? This is the one school I want to go to but I haven't heard anything yet 🙁

ZanP, me too! I didn't submit my app until November 🙁 I hope I hear from them soon too. I did get an application complete in early December, but that's all on AADSAS. Did you receive that notification?

Umm I think my application was sent out late in July, but my DAT scores were not recieved until mid September. My GPA is about a 3.5 and my sGPA is also about a 3.5, maybe closer to a 3.6 now. They emailed me asking for a grade update, so I sent them my new grades and shortly after that I got an interview. I hope this helps!

That estimate is about correct. I'm a instate first year at VCU and my tuition for each semester was right under 16,000 for each semester. This doesn't include rent,books, etc. The handout that someone is referring to lists out a cost of attendance that VCU estimates for you. It's even budgeted out for you so that you can see what your money is going to. You don't have to take out the full 62K. At the end of my first year, I will have taken out right at 45K for all of my expenses. Hope this helps.

I did receive that exact notification, but nothing since then. I hope that just means they are still going through everyones applications...
