any tips for future OMFS applicants?

I am hoping to apply for OMFS next year. My numbers are not exactly ideal but I love oral surgery and want to get more info about the application process. What do Oral Surgery programs look for in candidates and what takes to even get interviews? It would be awesome if we, the future applicants, can get tips from residents who are currently going through programs. For those of you who are applyin this year, I wish you the very best!
