Unfortunately I didn't receive the call. I was wondering if anyone who was not accepted like me had any updates from them. Are they working on a waitlist? Will they be sending out an email or letter to tell us if we were waitlisted or rejected? I'm just confused what is happening now, where I stand, and if I should keep hoping or not. Please let me knoww

the second deposit due date is April 1st, so you might be hearing something after then.

I was waitlisted at pitt last year and checking through my old emails, the waitlist form came on 3/24/10.

Sorry I don't have any info for you, but I am in the same situation. No word directly from Pitt, only heard on here that the first round of acceptance calls went out. Hope we hear soon!

I had a chance to communicate with the admissions chair and they spent the week of March11-18 filling out their class and now the waitlist has been created. He told me "do NOT pass up a certain offer" and wished me the best of luck in my career. I'm assuming that I'm not very high on their waitlist but maybe other people may be higher up and may still have a chance if people withdraw their deposit. Good luck.

Thanks for the update. Did he give you a time frame when the waitlist might be sent out? :xf:

Now I'm worried!

I was told to wait for the waitlist forms to be sent out. He didn't say anything about where I am on that list. 🙁

Well they're waiting to see who sends in their deposits by April 1st. Then I'm sure they'll evaluate how many spots they have left and call whoever they want the most of the remaining candidates. Pretty soon I'm sure they'll fill up with 80 people who have made all the deposits and then they'll notify the people on the waiting list. He said they haven't ranked the waiting list yet. They did say at my interview they were planning to make 30-35 offers for the post Dec 1st interviewees but I'm not sure how many were interviewed after Dec. 1st. All I know is I wasn't one of those called.

I just checked AADSAS today, and Pitt had changed it to "Wait Listed" so hopefully your status' have changed as well. Best Wishes

Yep, mine changed to waitlisted too. The question is, what spot?

Got a letter today with a form to mail in confirming my interest in being put on the waitlist...i'm assuming some of you have/will get the same!

Yes. Received the same form. Apparently the class is full and waitlisters have to hope people decide to head elsewhere and you are at the top of the list. I'm not getting my hopes up too high and there's always next year. Good luck to everyone else, maybe you'll win the Pittsburgh lottery.

From what I've heard usually about 65% of the people who are offered admission accept, leaving quite a few from the alternate list to get in. I don't know what the situation is currently at Pitt though, what stage of this process they are in.

I was being facetious about the "lottery" comparison. I just don't want to get my hopes up too high since it's a great school. If 65% attend, then that means 28 spots are taken from the alternate list. I'm not sure how long the list is, but I'm guessing they interviewed anywhere from 150-200 people? That would mean potentially 70-120 people may be on that list. It may be less if people decline to be waitlisted but I'm guessing that's not too many. So your chances are not overwhelming and you better hope you rank in the top 25-30% of that list. Maybe someone has a better idea than I do on these numbers because I'm just speculating.

Has anyone got off the waitlist lately? I was told last week that they will make some phone calls this week so I'm just checking.

Nah I haven't heard yet...but once I heard that the next deposit due date was may 1st i've been crossing off the days till now (well, Monday)...good luck to everyone here. I know how crappy this feeling of being on the waitlist is, so it's good that some of us will get good news soon!

And if anyone has acceptances from Pitt and another school, choose the other school!

Students were on break this week (between spring and summer term) and some of the faculty members were in and out, including the some members of the admissions committee. So hopefully the news is coming soon.
