Hello, I am a longtime user of SDN in the medical forums... I am a BC anatomic/clinical pathologist and dermatopathologist (human) and was wondering if there was anyone in this forum that could point me to a good Vet Path text, specifically for vet dermpath. If there are general vet path texts that have good sections on dermpath I would be up for that too. Also, is anyone aware of courses that are offered in this area (vet dermpath)? Any advice would be much appreciated🙂.
Thanks,
Patrick

Hello! I'm a second-year veterinary pathology resident.

What species are you working with, if I may ask? Are you more concerned with gross lesions or histologic?

In terms of small animal dermatology:

Veterinary Dermatopathology of the Dog and Cat: (Gross, Ihrke, and Walder) is a
*wonderful* text. I use it almost daily.

Skin Diseases of the Dog and Cat: Clinical and Histopathologic Diagnosis, Second Edition is essentially an updated version of the above, and also quite useful.

Jubb and Kennedy's Pathology of Domestic Animals has a fgood skin overview for more species as well, and there are always some species-specific books floating around. Pathology of Laboratory Rodents and Rabbits (Percy) may also help if you're doing lab animal.

We have two excellent veterinary dermatopathologists at my institution that I could also put you in contact with if you needed.
