Anybody applying to UT Memphis?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am. I went to undergrad at ETSU. They have had my stuff for a while but still no word.

I graduated from ETSU!!! I love Johnson City, it is so pretty there. I applied to UT memphis and have an interview Jan 12th. I talked with someone there from admissions and they said it is more competitive there this year than it ever has been due to the higher DAT scores and higher GPAs of the people that applied. I don't think they do too many pre-Dec 1st interviews. I know they had two interview days in November, and they are doing interviews Dec 1st, 15th, Jan 12th and Jan 19th. It was first come first serve as to when you scheduled your interview. By the time I called to schedule for Dec 15th, the first available time slot was Jan 12th. I'm not sure if they are interviewing in Feb or not. I know several people that have graduated from there and loved the school. They are excellent dentists.

I'm also applying to UT memphis. I am at Belmont right now. Good luck everyone.

Hey, I have an interview there on December 1. You should probably call them if you have not heard from them because someone had misplaced my transcripts and my application was incomplete until I called and luckily they found my transcripts. I am not sure how hard it is to get in but Dr. Coleman (Director of Admissions) said that 500 applied last year and I think 80 were accepted. I have a 3.6 gpa and 18 on DAT. I am sure all of you can get an interview if I did. Good Luck

Hey! I interviewed with them on Oct 6th. I LOVED the school! Everyone was so nice and friendly and Dr. Coleman was wonderful! The interview was relatively chill and there were only 6 others interviewing the same day I did. Their facilities are amazing - they have 40 stations with a virtual reality program called Dent Sim where lasers help you drill on practice teeth. Most schools only have 2 or 3 of these. Good luck!

Well im an out of state resident and i have talked with dr. coleman and to the admissions office. They said they have everything...i still dont know why i havent heard from them. My gpa and dat scores should be sufficient but they dont take a lot of out of state students *(unless your from arkansas i believe.) Does anyone know if they have started to interview out of state students and any more information on how many more dates there are for interviews? Someone mentioned something about only 1 date left for interviews...is that true?

My gf is in the pharmacy program at UT-memphis. She had not heard anything from them and her mother called the school to check on the progress of her app. Some woman told her that her daughter needed to call. She called and they told her that she was accepted and need to get her deposit together to keep her spot. Mind you this was a month and a half before school started.

Someone had misplaced my transcript also. . . twice. I thought my application was complete in Sept. I called to check on it and it ended up not being complete until October.

Of the 7 people interviewing on Oct 6th, 4 were from out of state (all from MS). This is from a letter Dr. Coleman sent me:

"Our initial selections are made by the first of December. At this time we usually select about twenty or thirty people, although we do not have any quotas. The remaining selections usually occur during the months of January, February and March after the fall term grades are received. At that time the remaining applicants are notified of their their acceptance, placed in an alternative pool, or non-acceptance."

I hope this helps some!
