anybody at/close to columbia...HELP!

Dear Mods, I apologize for x-posting, but I am actually desperate...

I am interviewing for Columbia's MSTP program on Monday (Jan 22). The secretary didn't email me my itinerary until FRIDAY afternoon, and she said that my student host would be emailing me very soon. Except my host STILL HASN'T EMAILED ME YET, and I'm supposed to be in NYC tomorrow, and now I can't get in touch the MSTP secretary because it's the weekend, and I'm going to be stuck tomorrow with NOWHERE TO STAY. This makes me super peeved, and also scared half to death, because what am I going to do tomorrow?!

So, um, is there ANYONE at columbia/close to columbia who would be willing to help put me up just for tomorrow evening. PLEASE OMG. You will have my undying gratitude (which is worthless), and I will treat you to dinner (which is worth SOMETHING. please please please please....i can't believe this is happening to me...

Not to be harsh, but asking someone who has no way of knowing if you're actually who you say are to let you into their home in NYC is probably a stretch. If you find someone who will, great! Realistically, it's time to book a hotel room.

well, the trust has to go both ways. just as the person who is offering to put me up has to trust that i am an MSTP applicant who has host issues, i too have to trust that the person who is opening their home to me isn't a serial kill/psychopath.

in any case, someone from SDN did offer to help. THANK YOU SDN! 😀

Wow, that sucks. I hope someone can help you out. If not, I've stayed at a couple of hostels close to the Columbia area. If worse comes to worse, you can do that. This one is in walking distance. Good luck!

LOL Crimson, while studying after posting that, it occured tome that you'd have to trust that there weren't any psychos opening their homes to you.

Good luck at your interview, and sleep with one eye open!

I had a similar situation at an MSTP interview. Just get a hotel room and they'll reimburse you.
