Anybody doing hyperbarics?

Curious if any of you guys or gals have any experience with hyperbarics in the community?

I think it might be a nice change of pace to staff a chamber at some point (I realize this would be almost exclusively wound care cases).

Just wondering if any of y'all do or have done this, and if so, what route did you take to become qualified (eg. certification vs fellowship vs on-the-job training)?

I'm a PA, but I started out as a hyperbaric tech with multiplace and monoplace units as an insider observer, so I would "dive" with them. I then went to PA school and work in an ER, but I took a per diem job as a supervising PA at a small Hyperbaric unit (monoplace only).

Needless to say it is NIGHT AND DAY from the ER. I needed the pace of an ER environment, but if you're looking for a low stress job where you can watch movies with patients, I would say hop into it! Haha, but seriously, feel free to contact me anytime with any questions you have and I would be happy to answer them.

Just re-read your post, sorry, worked the graveyard shift last night,...

I can tell you for most of the docs in charge of a unit, they have specialty in Podiatry, Wound care, and need the "40 hour" course fromthe UHMS, which can be completed online or in person. Techs typically need EMT-B or higher, and can complete the 40 hour course while working.
