I have my interview at MCO 1/18/05. Iwas wondering if anyone from Michigan has been accepted, and what other schools are you considering? It's alot cheaper than going out of state, and its pretty good if you can get one of the 32 seats, but does its location make you think twice?

Hey,

I am also interviewing at MCO soon and have actually never been to the campus. I heard it's pretty cold and also think about its location. I'm aslo in-state and understand what you're saying about $$. It's gonna be a hard decision but I'll have a better idea when I go for the interviews. By the way, what was their interview process like and how did you find it? Thanks

The interview went really well. It was really relaxed and laid-back. The whole day was similar to all the other interviews that I've been on (tour, meet w/ the associate dean, answer a question/essay, and the interview itself). Let me know how it goes and what you think of the college.

I have interviewed at ICO and MCO. Two very different schools. I can say that I got along very well with all the faculty and staff I met at MCO. It is an extremely laid back, friendly environment. For me, financially, MCO makes much more sense. After attending Michigan State for undergrad, the small class size and great faculty:student ratio is enticing. Leaning that way, but will keep you posted.

Don't worry about the interview. Read the websites, know your resume, and have some questions or concerns prepared. I made PRO/CON and question list for each school and mentally made sure everything was covered.

Well...tomorrow is going to be my very first interview! I'm kinda scared but I hope everything goes well.
I actually visited ICO over the weekend and they gave me a tour of the place. The first time I went I was a little scared off by the neighborhood. But the inside of the school is rather nice and actually better than what I saw at Berkeley. I wasn't planning on applying but after an optometrist told me about the great clinical program they have and the wide patient base, I might consider applying.
I have interviews for Berkeley and SUNY later on this month. I applied to IU but they haven't gotten back to me yet. I think I still might apply for SCCO.
Is the tuition for most schools out of state around $40,000 per year? Okies, I'll tell you guys how the interview went.

I just interviewed today and got an acceptance letter! I believe they actually already had the letter printed up beforehand. I think they were most interested in my academic background and OAT schools as they were my strengths. So maybe they didn't care as much about my interview?? Glad that went well considering it was my first interview. The people were really nice and they didn't ask too many difficult questions. everything was pretty laid back.
The main thing that draws me to this school is the in state tuition and the small class size. However, 34 is quite small. The whole setting is kinda weird though since it's in a dorm! But what matters more is that they have the proper equiptment. The campus was ok, but I like my campus at UM-Ann Arbor better. I've also been to Berkeley and their campus is really nice.
The cons about the school are mainly its location! I just don't know if I would want to be there for the next four years of my life. And I'm also a little tired of cold weather 🙂 . So it'll be a hard choice since my family is in MI and the the fact that it's a lot cheaper.
I think my first choice for now would be Berkeley, but seeing as how it's very competitive and it's a research oriented school, I'll have to see how the interview goes.
