Do you think you will be pretty happy at any place you ranked, or did you feel like you ranked some places that you would be unhappy?

Did you think there was an abundance of programs you considered rank-worthy or was it slim pickins?

I would be happy at any of the places I ranked. That's how it's supposed to work, I don't understand why people rank places when they KNOW if they are stuck there they won't be happy.

I am a little terrified of the scramble so I really hope I match!

Have you been to Buffalo in the winter? :luck: :luck: :luck:

because the prospect of scramble is not a very appealing one; at least with the programs you've seen you know what you're getting yourself into - with scramble it's like diving head-first into murky water.

You may not know this, but SUNY at Buffalo IS on my rank order list. I lived in Maine for 8 months starting in January in 2003, can't be much worse 🙂

I know I did rank places that I would not be happy to match at, but it is simply because they would make me happier (still not happy) than being in the scramble. This may be crazy logic, but it helps me sleep better...

If I had to go back, I would however interview at many more places (I just limited myself to the nearby states); therefore, I would hopefully find many other programs that would have made me very happy.

I grew up in Buffalo, went to college in Maine. Made me appreciate the flora in San Diego in January that much more when I interviewed there!

Actually I saw your ROL on another thread, which is why I asked about Buffalo. I think winter depression would really get to me up there, but if you can handle Maine, Buffalo should be no problem.

Good point. I guess that's why I respect the polar bear so much. I love the idea of being so well insulated that you have to lay down on the ice or take a swim just to keep from overheating.
