It looks like the AACOMAS retroactively went in and made supervisor contact phone numbers a mandatory field in the Experiences section. Apparently if you already have the experience saved or submitted your application you don't need to add the phone number, but if you want to edit any information you'll have to add it. One company I worked for isn't even in business anymore and I wouldn't know how to go about getting contact info for others. Kind of annoying, but whatever.

Wow...did not even realize this.

Yes, they did retroactively add in the phone number is a requirement.

Yeah I had to go back and edit them before I submitted last night. Im glad I double checked everything, the numbers were all screwed up

Yup, just posted about this, thought I was forgetting something. I got random numbers put in for the entries that I did not originally have a number for. In any case, I just went back and added phone numbers for all of them so I can safely edit and save them.

So, apparently one of the numbers on there for me changed?! I did not put that number in lol. I called it and its a fax number so....... yea....

All the other numbers are fine though, but this was AFTER i submitted.

AACOMAS for best application service ever?

Under AACOMAS Course Subjects

"IMPORTANT: AACOMAS verifies course subjects using the course title and then departmental prefix listed on your official transcript. AACOMAS will not except course descriptions to verify course subjects."

This is great info, please continue to post any more updates

Yeah AACOMAS can't even spell anymore haha...

Yeah, I'm in the same situation as you. Rather annoying.
Do you guys recommend adding a phone number, even though we technically don't have to if our experiences are already added in? I had their emails already inputted in, but I don't have their numbers.

ummm if we already submitted and all that how are we even supposed to know of these requirement changes if we received no notification? Im leaving mine personally and if i get a notification or seomeone asks then ill explain.

Does this apply to people who already submitted? I logged in and there is no way to edit any of the experiences. I'm guessing it's just for anyone who submits from this point on. Not sure how much they thought this through, but not everyone has a phone contact for their experiences. They should have atleast made either email or phone number required. Not just a phone number.

I would love to know what people would do if the company they work for went out of business or the supervisor/manager have already quit.

I have no idea what their rationale is behind this, but apparently contact phone #s are important so I'll update what I can. Sigh, 2015 is turning out to be a great year to apply to medical school. I just hope this is the first and last time for me.

Once my app was verified, I got an email from Kansas City, saying they aren't reviewing apps until July 15. So I think we still have a month before schools actually review to send secondaries.

2015-2016 app year will go down in history as the year in which random phone numbers are being added to applicant profiles (in my case a fax number???!!!/?? 😱), letters will be corrupted, Grade Replacement policies will themselves be replaced by a voodoo policy, systems will be changed, and applications will be "sent" to schools without official MCAT scores.

I tried to make that sound as cool as this. But I failed.

What about for clubs/extracurriculars? The President I was under already left....

Well the important thing is you tried. Also, can't forget the new MCAT, oh and the fact that the merger is set to be in full effect by the time our class is set to match. It's the perfect storm. I can't even

Wish I had an answer for you. I'm just leaving that default 201-555-5555 # in most of mine.

So to clarify, I have been verified for awhile. Do I need to go back and add phone numbers to the ones I didn't include? I thought that part of the application locked after you submitted it?

No you don't. I just had emails for mine and didn't bother to include phone numbers. I believe phone numbers are way too personal unless they're publicly known.

Ok thanks. I added the contact info for the ones I thought were relevant or knew. I highly doubt they actually have the time to contact all of those people anyway.

Get used to all of this. It doesn't end...they changed the way COMLEX level 2 was scored in the middle of an application year so that some people's step 2 scores were drastically lower than if they were scored on the normal system (and so compared to people that took the exam a month earlier their scores were MUCH lower). This is very typical.

Fantastic. So If you are going DO you have to deal with way more hoops to be a physician.
