Man....I have a BAD feeling about the shelf, I did it last week..... and do NOT feel good about it..... which sucks since I really REALLY REALLY want to go into internal medicine. I need at least a 78% to get an A in the course (yes our school still has the A,B,C, D system....).... I think I may have gotten a 60 something or a low 70.... arghghghg so many tough questions......

I bombed one shelf so far, the rest I managed to ace...my worse shelf so far was surgery (63%)... my best psych (90%)

Well not quite... you need to have done REALLY well on your clinical as well b/c the shelf is only worth 30% of your grade.

Still though ..... a 78% is tough to get on an IM shelf..... I have such a bad feeling about this one.... anyhow, I'll let you guys know one way or the other

Uh oh. This is not what I want to hear! I am preparing for it and very stressed out about it. What made it tough? What did you use to prepare?

Of course im jealous...78 is a pathetic score for getting an A. We have to get a 90 on everything. it has nothing to do with arrogance, merely frustration that people are getting honors willy nilly, and then I see places like UCSF saying they like students getting all honors when clearly theres a difference between schools in how you acquire them.

What is the PL for the IM shelf at your school?

i'd just wait and see what happens. i walked out of my medicine shelf feeling really bad about it, but ended up getting a good score. you never really know...

UPDATE:

I ended up getting a 79% (raw) on the shelf, so I'm pretty happy. Our school takes MANY factors into consideration for giving an A. A 78% or above WILL NOT guarantee an A, it just won't HURT you if you have excellent evals (Which I had). The shelf is ONLY worth 30% which is why you need to get a minimum of 78% NOT to HURT you. THIS WILL NOT give you an A if you have average or bad evals! it just won't bring you down! so I'm super thrilled about my score and am awaiting my final results back.... will update...
