Just curious about stats from those of you that have been accepted or rejected from UIC. I check out their numbers at dentalstats, but those numbers are for the 03-04 year. I was hoping for something a little more current.

Thanks

I'm starting at UIC this August. Here are my stats, but I don't know how helpful they'll be to you. It took me two years to get in and I'm probably near the bottom rung of acceptability.

DAT: AA 19, PA 20, TS 18
GPA: 3.29
SciGPA: 2.70
Deg: English Literature

Hope that helps in some way. Good luck!

It definitely helps. I need to put my stats into perspective to see if I even stand a chance and if its worth applying. Honestly, I dont want to assume a debt load of nearly 250k or more by going to a private school. So i can claim residency in either IL or PA, which leaves me with UIC and Temple.

My stats are:
BS ('03) Biochemistry and Molecular Bio
GPA: 3.08 (overall and science)
4 years molecular genetics research in college
2 years gene therapy research after graduation
1 year teaching university Bio labs
1 year (current) research Coordinator at UofC Medical Center

So i just want to know how i stand. I wont be applying until next cycle and taking DAT around March.

Just to make sure -- you do know that you've been posting in the Dental forums, right? (your screenname and "PCAT" statement is the reason why I'm asking) 🙂

haha, thanks for spotting that. a while back I had be more interested in Pharmacy, and I guess that was still on my mind. Freudian slip i guess. Definitely interested in dental/DAT info.

Haha, I wasn't trying to be picky.. I was just a little confused 🙂 Glad you chose dental over pharm 😉

I applied to UIC twice and am currently waitlisted (#3). I wasnt interviewed last year (think it was b/c DAT was a bit low) and was interviewed on 3/3 of this year.

Overall GPA: 3.2
Science-3.45
BCP-3.35

DAT: 18/17/16 (AA/TS/PAT)

While I dont have stellar DAT scores by any means....I enrolled in an MS program and took a lot of the upper level biology courses within the last year. I think that helped a lot. Anyway, we shall see what happens with the waitlist situation (btw....I am planning to go to Indiana for now)

I am on the waitlist as well, I am number 10.
DAT: AA 18, PA 17, TS 18
GPA: 3.6
SciGPA: 3.2
Deg: Psychology with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience

Yes they do...first years take boards on July 11th (or the 12th?)...anyway..I guess they are now considered second years.

Just so you know, you can count on having around 250k of debt even if you do go to UIC. Tuition just jumped big time. I thought one of the most important parts of applying, at UIC and anywhere else, was the interview process. I think a lot of ground is gained or lost in those couple hours. That is just my own personal impression however.

And yes, boards are scheduled for 7/11 as I understand it, in the summer after your D1 year.

Best of luck!!!

SO TRUE!!!! My stats are average/subpar for UIC...and I jumped to #6 on the waitlist (when I was first waitlisted) over more qualified applicants (just my opinion) in terms of numbers....and I think what did it was my interview. I was surprised to be waitlisted in the top 10 at UIC and not even considered worthy by SIU. I guess it just depends on the school...some have their mind made up before interviewing and then make sure you arent a tool...some actually put stock into the interview. Anyway, John, great point.

what has UICs instate tuition jumped to for d-school?

The email I recieved had the final 05-06 tuition listed on a pdf file. Each year for an Illinois resident is as follows:

D1: $27,054
D2: $34,109
D3: $32,593
D4: $32,273
