Congratulations to everyone who received acceptances!

I don't want to sound like a broken record. But could anyone who got accepted with sparse leadership ECs please weigh in? Were you asked about your leadership experiences in your interviews? Do you think other elements of you application helped compensate for this and if so, what were they?

I'll be applying next year and this information would really help calm my nerves.

Thank you!

well...i would strongly suggest you rack up some leadership/ec now. I applied with close to 3.94 sgpa, 24/22/21 dat and i have 0 interviews....because i dont have much leadership/EC.

That seems a little strange. Some schools should give you an interview on those stats alone. Unless you had a red flag somewhere like no shadowing, applied really late, etc.

Yea I got zero on-campus leadership and got 5 interviews applying aug 8 with damn near identical stats. You might want to look over your app. with an admissions officer or perhaps apply more strategically? Dont expect harvard or columbia but you should get a roseman, western, ect.

I honestly HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend leadership experience! I know that's how I was able to get 4 acceptances with a 3.2 / 2.88 sci GPA ... I had tons and I mean tons of leadership and research

What kinds of leadership if you don't mind me asking?

What kinds of leadership if you don't mind me asking?

I was an RA for 3 years in the dorms
I was the volunteer chair for biochemistry club
I was active in community service for my fraternity
I worked in student judicial services for 1 year as an RA liason
I did tutoring in Chemistry/Biochemistry

I did research every year of my undergrad + 1 summer overseas + my gap year between graduating undergrad. I also got LOR's to back everything up.

I knew early on if I wanted a chance at dental school I would have to do as many extra things as possible

How do you manage to balance leadership roles, school, and working full time?
