Hi.

I am usually just a lurker on this forum. But as the deadline for submitting applications nears, I was wondering if anyone else has applied to the University of Florida's MOT program. I have rarely seen it mentioned on this board.

UF is the only school I applied to, as my family and I live in Gainesville. So I have all my eggs in one basket. I think with my life experiences I have a good shot, but I heard competition for conditional students has gotten pretty intense.

Thanks.🙂

I might apply next year, do you know how many seats UF has for conditional applicants?

I'm guessing you did your undergrad at UF?

I'm also nervous as I've only applied to 1 other place. I'm hoping that being a guy will help my chances. According to the below website, only 3/53 acceptances were males in 08-09.

I don't have my undergrad degree but I have a graduate degree from UF. UF is the only school I can attend due to my family situation. This will be a second career for me.

I think being a male will definetely be to your advantage. How is your GPA/GRE? Do you have experience in the OT field?

My stats are as follows:

Undergrad GPA ~3.5
Grad GPA 3.97
Prereq GPA 4.0
GRE 1170
100+ hours of volunteering in various OT settings

My gpa is ~3.3 and my gre is 1250.

I have about 50 hours shadowing, but of course on the form you could only put 30, which means I had to parcel out the hours as best I could. The unfortunate part for me is that my gpa for first 2 years is 4.0 but 3.0 for the last 2.

Your stats are really good, I don't see why you would get rejected. Are you applying for conditional or direct entrance?

I applied for conditional acceptance. I have a totally unrelated undergrad and grad major (Wildlife Biology). I think in a regular year I would get accepted but competition will be fierce this year. There is only 15-20 conditional spots and I talked to the office assistant today and she said there was a "large influx of applicants" for those spots, but did not have an actual number. Last year there were about 70 applicants for I believe 18 spots, I imagine there are even more this year.

Good luck.😀

Dang, 15-20 out of 70...I better start looking up admission deadlines for other schools lol

My degree is in food science and I'm sure most people have degrees from all over the spectrum. Lately OT has exploded as the economy drives people into careers that are actually hiring :xf:

Keep this thread updated if you hear anything. Letters to be sent out mid-March, correct?

GoGators09, Your stats sound pretty good and I think being a male will be a plus! Good luck!!
