i've tried to do searches on this, but i was wondering if anybody is applying to DO schools? I know many of you all are applying to MD schools, but i just found out that there is a DO school opening up next to my town so i might apply and see how it goes... i posted a thread in the DO forum with my gpa stats, and admissions seems pretty hardcore. unlike PharmD school (which concentrates mostly on science/math gpa), DO programs have no reconciliation towards former degrees and their GPAs... kinda sucks.. anyways, anyone else applying to these programs?

who's applying to md school? no one that i know.... well in my opinion, you should just apply to one area of school. example if you want to be a doctor go apply medical school, if you want to be a phrmacist go apply pharmacist school. please do not use pharmacy school as your escape goat. if you truely want to be a DO/MD, apply and work hard to get in those school. i personally do not recommend applying to both schools because if both schools find out it might not look good, i have another reason why you shouldn't be i rather not say it. my two cents.

I agree with kwak... If you want to be a pharmacist, then do that. If you want to be a medical doctor, then do that. I always find it interesting when people apply to two or more types of programs. Each field is so very different in a lot of ways it makes me wonder if the person has really thought through what each job would truly entail. Either way, that's my opinion so best of luck to you in the application process.

kwakster--

nobody said anything about pharmacy school being the "scapegoat" for med school.. i just asked a general question because i want to keep my options open. i'm sorry if applying to both medical school and pharmacy school was illegal in all 50 states. like i have stated in the past, the prerequisites are similar for both and when the time comes around when i have to decide, i just want to know how to commit myself to the right extracurriculars and/or standardized tests (pcat vs. mcat) and if i can for both, if at all possible... get that chip of your damn shoulder, nobody criticized your intentions on going into pharmacy school... and YES, there are MANY people on this forum that have applied to both.. so that question was directed to THEM.. NOT people who are quickly offended when someone doesnt apply to pharmacy school.. with that being said, i guess this forum is intended for public humiliation rather than advice.

thanks alot kwakster... you're a real PAL

-- by the way, i hope you liked how our bucs got into your eagles' ass and kept them out of the superbowl in 2002 as well as the lightning shutting down those flyers and locking them out of the stanley cup this year... once again, keeping philly as america's most pathetic city

tampa bay - city of champions
philadelphia - city of losers

whoa doggie... there's no need for that. Just because someone gives their opinion doesn't mean they're an ass. Now, verbally attacking someone like that and jumping on them because of the city they live in... that's being an ass.

Kwakster's point is that you shouldn't apply to a school for a completely different professional degree just to see how it goes. I personally think that if you can't wholeheartedly go into pharmacy as a profession, then you shouldn't go at all. Most likely you will regret it in the long run.

Come on...not this s**t again

If you want to be a DO, take your undergrad work at Saint Leo about 20 miles north of Tampa. I got my degree there and the campus is really pretty. They have a joint program with Nova where Saint Leo biology grads automatically get into Nova's DO program if they meet certain stats.

ummm...why would you apply to both? If your stats are good enough for both schools then why would you apply to both? To me that just shows that you are unsure of what you want to do with your life. I honestly think that you should just do some research and figure out what you want to do *before* you apply. You shouldn't just apply because you can. Most schools, will automatically turn you down if they find out that you have applications at completely different professional school (for example, applying to both med and pharm schools). You should seriously take some time to evaluate what you want to do...they are two different career paths and you shouldn't choose one just because you get in. I think that most interviewers will see through this, if you do not know why you want to become a pharmacist/doctor. I also think that you should learn to accept other people's opinions without throwing a tantrum. This is a *PUBLIC* forum where people post their opinions, if you don't want to hear what they say, then maybe you shouldn't post here. Good luck!
