Anyone else freaking out that Tuesday is October 15?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I already got wait-listed by my top choice so as far as I'm concerned, silence until this point from the others is good news. 🙂

i was just about to make a thread about this; i'll be hearing from 3~ schools in the next two weeks and its honestly more surreal than nerve-wracking.

I probably won't be hearing back exactly on 10/15 but I'll be hearing back from ~6 schools in the next couple of weeks. The waiting is the worst part

I am excited. I may get an acceptance from Indiana University on that day! Too bad its with snail mail so I probably wont see it until Wed or Thursday if they send it out

as a marginal stat applicant, i cant wait. I'm hoping some of you successful guys start withdrawing from some of your third and fourth choices, rather quickly 😛

Some people are waiting to hear back from 6 schools
I have yet to attend my first interview
I ****ed up another cycle

Am I freaking out? Yes. Top choice is getting back to me in less than 48 hours!! I want to hear good news so badly, I can barely stand it

had three interviews already and only one is going to start telling near the 15th 🙁... I wish I'd hear more news soon.

Totally freaking out now. I was lucky enough to interview at my top choice and they've guaranteed I'll hear back on October 15th at midnight! I'm so scared it won't be good news haha

Definitely freaking out, but the school I am hearing back from interprets the rule as "after the 15th" so I won't hear until early on the 16th 🙁

Waiting to hear from my top choice but not so confident and not sure if I'm ready to hear if the news is going to be bad.

+1! im not so confident and should be hearing back from my top choice on the 15th or 16th
here's to hoping we are just a little too hard on ourselves

Hello do you all interview at schools that specifically tell you you you you will hear back oct 15th??? or is it more like you interview very early and assume you will hear back right away??!

i have been on a few interviews very early as in the first interview group and the schools say just because u interview first don't mean you will hear back first.

Not sure what to think but maybe don't set yourselves up for DISAPPOINTMEBT.

I thought 10/15 was the first day any decision could be given?

Yeah, all of the schools that I have visited have said the rule is "AFTER the 15th" Here's to the 16th! 🙂)

is this only for people who already interviewed?

I really really really really don't won't to be the guy who gets 5+ interviews and no acceptances. That would be such a slap in the face.

I'm really nervous for the 15th. Originally, I thought I would be pretty calm, but now I'm just getting really anxious. All the schools I went to have their pros and cons, but I just want to get into at least 1 school.

Oh, man. At first, I couldn't remember the significance of that date, other than that's when I need to turn in my suggested schedules for my clinical rotations. It's been a long two years since that October 15th for me. Good luck, folks. 🙂

we're almost thereeeeeee...!!!! 🙂 really excited to find out some good news. fingers crosssed

The AAMC Recommendations for Admissions Officers site says the date is, "after October 15," but I rechecked some of last year's school-specific threads. A few began updating their portals on the 15th, some started making calls on the 16th, and some appeared to mail letters on the 15th. Since it is an AAMC "recommendation", I think it is open to interpretation by schools.

Not to get anyone's hopes up, but IIRC, one school mailed letters last year that arrived on the 13th. It was a Saturday, and I think the school mailed them with the intention of having them arrive that Monday, the 15th. No idea which school it was.

Patiently waiting... 🙂 not hearing from any top choice schools but I think I should hear from about 3 schools on the 15-16th

I am trying not to get my hopes up but at the same time, its hard not to be excited. I am just telling myself I am not going to hear anything till end of the month.

I've been having terrifying nightmares about this. Ahhhh. I'm so glad I'm not the only person freaking out.

As you all know, there are some schools that notify the first couple minutes of October 15, as in 12:01AM EST.

That is approximately 12 hours from now 😱

Which schools do that?

Which schools do that?

I know Michigan does, for one.

Edit: I am also on the freakout train. I'm hearing from the one school I've interviewed at so far (unfortunately not Michigan)... so I REALLY HOPE FOR GOOD NEWS! I just keep telling myself that hearing anything on the first day possible is a good sign and/or a lucky dilemma to be in.

To be honest, I don't think the majority of applicants that interviewed in the past two to three weeks are going to hear back tomorrow or the day after. At least I didn't despite having interviewed quite early on.

Good luck regardless.

Really hoping to hear from one of my top choices tomorrow (today?). They told us at the interview that they'd tell you if you got accepted on Oct. 15th so I'm going to be really bummed if I don't hear anything tomorrow. Really hoping I get in since it means I can end my interview season after a couple more schools.

Heh. Had an email pop up on my phone at like 12:10. Freaked out a little inside that it might have been from a medical school. Nope, completely unrelated. My notifications are being turned off until further notice for sanity's sake.

Praying that Jefferson will be merciful and spare me the waiting game tomorrow/(today).

If you miss the call, will they just leave the acceptance in voicemail? Anyone had experience on that?

Usually they won't give the decision in the actual voicemail but will say "please call us back" or something. However, usually if you get a call at all it is a good sign!
