I had an early block with a question that gave a pic of a parkinson gross brain next to a normal, patient with parkinson's symptoms, etc. and I needed to know the protein that was messed up. I probably should have known it, but I couldn't remember... so I picked one of the choices.

Then, I had a question in another block with the same gross pic and a light microscope pic of the cells. Question boiled down to the same thing... what protien was messed up. The only two choices both questions had in common were Tau and alpha-synuclein... so, I figured it had to be one of these and felt bad because I picked something else the first time around. This time I picked Tau. Ugh.

Then, I had a later block with yet another parkinson's question... this one listed alpha synuclein in the stem as the problematic protien. If only I had had this one first!!!

Moral to the story IMO is look up questions you remember that you were unsure of during breaks if you get the chance.

BTW, I thought the actual test was easier than I had expected based on Qbank and rapid review Qs.

if i had a GONG i would ring it...becuz thanks to you i learned a new fact!

PKD = alpha-synuclein

Alz = tau

any other mind blowing facts to rock my world today?

Don't feel bad about missing that one! I have never heard of that protein before plus it's not even in first aid (at least i couldn't find it), which means that if you had searched first aid during you breaks, you may not have found the answer anyways.

I'm afraid I'm low on useful facts... and was on step 1 day as well. Good luck.

I don't remember too many questions that hinged on small trivia like this other than these two questions, though. Seems most were larger ideas they were testing.

Thanks. I don't feel too bad about it, but still stinks it was 2 misses. I've asked a few people and it seems I'm not the only one who didn't know these protiens. Oh well.
