jackass, te mato senor jugador 😉

You suck! You totally scared me...if I die of a heart attack, my family's gonna sue you! 😀

Good move man. Half the people who saw that probably had a massive coronary and died on the spot, thus opening more spots for the rest of us. 😀

lol!! I'm guessing that most of the people who are anxiously waiting for Frantz's letter next week are pretty competitive applicants who, for the most part, already have at least one acceptance. Thus, everyone needs to chill a little bit (myself included) and put things in perspective. We're gonna be doctors - that's what counts. I realize that spending the next four years of our lives in Washington Heights is a dream that many of us will find difficult to let go of, but unfortunetely for 75% of us, that's what we're going to have to face next week.

Isn't Spanish Harlem on the east side of Manhattan?

P&S is in Washington Heights

yep. east and south of Washington Heights. Someone failed their NYC geography. hmm...maybe that's a requirement for admission🙂

I find it interesting that the only dean of admissions that is consistently referred to by name on here is Frantz. I have to assume that that is a reflection of both P&S fervor and the fact that he is a committee of one. ANyway, just thought it was fairly interesting. And, I am trying to maintain my ultra-pathetic trend of at least one P&S post daily. This has to end--I need to be either rejected or accepted.

...Or the worst of them all...waitlist/holdlist/alternate list/high or low priority list/competitive list 😀

dude! i am already dead. do me a favor. sue him for me, would you? thanks a slam dunk.

Oh, I almost forgot. I DID actually receive something from P&S today. I sent in my LOI 3 weeks ago, and today I received a postcard from the admissions department which just said "Your communication has been received". Kinda disapointing after all the previous talk about how Frantz writes a personal letter back after you send a letter. I figure this means one of two things. Either I have been offered an acceptance, and he doesn't want to waste time writing back, or I have been outright rejected, and he doesn't want to waste time writing back. I wonder which is the more probably senario?? 😛 😛 😛

Neither. Here's the deal: you send one letter, you get a nice letter back from Frantz. You send a second letter, you get a postcard back. That's just the way it works. Don't read anything into it.

I wouldn't sweat it. It sounds like you sent that LOI right when they were in the thick of making decisions, so Frantz (and whoever is else is on his vanishingly small committee) might've not had the time to draft a letter. At the very least it means they at least got it and acknowledged your intent. :horns:

Oh by the way - speaking of threads that will catch people's attention (or give them a heart attack), here's the next one I'm working on: "April 2003 MCAT scores have been cancelled!!"

What do you guys think?

Or "Harvard Med Goes Out of Business"... I think that'll cause some jaws to drop.

(and personally knowing SachinG, I would take that comment very seriously, Jugador. He's not one to split hairs). 😎

Just out of curiosity, if you're reading this thread then you're probably waiting on Columbia. Where have you guys gotten accepted to? I'll start: NYU and Einstein. Waiting on Harvard, Cornell, Columbia.

Ah ha! So the true motive comes out!! Just kidding... we are on the same equipo, right?

I suppose that makes sense, but that was my first and only letter to P&S .... kinda. I sent a thank you note to my interviewer (not Frantz) but I didn't know better back then about where to send it, so I sent it to his clinical office address that was on the Columbia website. I never received anything back from that, so I just figured that it was lost in the shuffle. Oh well...

I actually think I may have done this, myself... whoops...

Downstate and Einstein, wait-list at at 4 other NY schools. The only thing I'm banking on at Columbia is that it's a NY school.

Unfortunately, P&S is a private school, residency doesn't help in admissions. 🙁

It does to some extent, actually. Just not to the same extent as SUNY's.
edit: but that's not what I meant by my comment. I meant that the NY schools have been showing me some love, so I was hoping my luck with NY schools would keep on going.

hey Rendar5 - did you ever get the chance to stop by the admissions office the other day to inquire about any new admissions decision news?

oh, no. I forgot about that. I'll go run by on my lunch break and see what they say.

i checked at the office yesterday. the secretary confirmed that decisions will begin going out next tuesday the 26th.

tuesday the 24th or thursday the 26th?

I sent two letters to Frantz--one in late december and a follow-up last week. I didn't get any response at all, so hopefully it isn't a sign. Myinterviewer got back to me via e-mail a couple of times though. Good luck.

Man, I'd have been better off not knowing that. I'd have rather gotten my rejection out of the blue rather than knowing when it was coming 😛

Except that Tues is the 24th.

Soooo... did the poster mean Tues? Or Thurs, the 26th? Now you're in the clear...

I stopped by and the secretary said "sometime next week".

thanks a lot for checking Rendar -

Actually, I think it's better to just know "next week" rather than the specific date. At least, for me, I won't be staking out at the mailbox on a certain day.

good luck everyone.

ugh. wish i could just go to the admissions office next week and pick up my letter.

I called the admissions office today. First I got a message that said "we're closed for the holidays. Will reopen on December 29th. Happy new year." I am being 100% serious.

Then I called again and spoke with someone, and she said "letters will not be sent out before the end of next week."

At least all three messages mentioned sometime next week, so I think that's the most believable part 😉

Hopefull we will all get the good news. Try not to over analyze the "personal letter", which a lot of us have received from Dr. Frantz. Hoping our hard work and patience will pay off big time +pity+ :horns: 👍

I don't think the wording of Frantz's letters reveals much, if anything at all. If you interviewed with him, and sent a thank you letter, of course his response letter will be somewhat more "personalized" than if you didn't interview with him. He knows more about you than those who didn't interview with him. If you look at least year's threads about the letters, some people who got very detailed responses ended up being waitlisted, while others who never even got a response letter ended up being outright admitted. I'd say don't read into it too much, because the worst thing to do is set your hopes very high... and then have them come crashing down in the end. 🙁

Good luck to all who are waiting,

tf

Bumpage. Seems like an appropriate time to bump, just in case we didnt get someone the first time around 😉

Well, I don't think much of the guy, but if anyone got a letter today from him whose body begins with the word 'congratulations' I would suspect that one could read some meaning into such a document.

Just a thought.
