anyone ever gave a terrible answer during an interview and still get accepted?

This is not a question. You need to define "terrible."

Example:
Q: Why do you want to be a doctor?
A: So I can be filthy rich and get laid every night.

Versus

Q: Why do you want to be a doctor?
A: I guess it's something I've always wanted to do. Not sure why. I've just always been scientifically minded.

Both terrible answers, but the first candidate will not get accepted by that school (I can almost guarantee that) whereas the second candidate may get a slide if everything else, including rest of interview, is good.

Lol 2 of my As came after butchering 2 responses. One question isn’t going to get you rejected unless you say something truly awful. Just don’t let one poor response get to your head and mess up the remainder of the interview

I recently talked to an anesthesia resident that answered "why anesthesia?" with "I dunno, I guess I've always just liked watching people sleep." Matched his #1, but I can't recommend it

They asked you to promise? Jeeze that wording seems like a little much. I'm very eager to go to school far from home so hopefully they won't think I'm BSing them if I get interviewed at those schools lol

Oh yeah.

My last interview I already had 4 acceptances in my pocket so when they asked if my creative and engaging personality ever got me in trouble as a kid, I didn't hesitate to roll out a story where as a wily teenager my friends and I moved a park bench from one side of the road to the other as a prank and got a right scolding for it. (I did follow with my maturity development after that)

Ended up getting in and attending. Go figure!

I couldn't form a coherent sentence for one question for a minute straight and got accepted. The next interview, I walked out feeling like I nailed every answer and got reject anyways. Don't lose sleep over it.
