I am extremely interested in attending Indiana University for radiology, does anyone have any information, or is currently training there that could enlighten me on typical board scores, training environment, etc... Thanks in advance.

Why would you be extremely interested about Indiana?

Huh?

most people want to go to new york, boston, chicago, la, or california

but indiana?? there are like 4 streets in indianapolis

All my family is in that area, the city although not huge has a very reasonable cost of living, and it seems to be a nice looking program. But in all honesty its because my family all live around in that area, and my wife and I will have kids soon, so I want her to have a support group near by.

Not everyone wants a big city. I know personally I'm happiest and feel most comfortable in familiar surroundings, where I have an existing social network. Others like striking out on their own in the urban jungle, to each his own.

Indiana has a great program. I liked it a lot when I interviewed there. It is one of the bigger radiology programs but they still see plenty of stuff. It is also pretty well respected in the Midwest. Aunt Minnie is run out of Indiana and you get a little pay bonus for writing cases for the website.

The interview day is one of the more relaxing days and it was refreshing to be told up front that they didnt want a thank you note. Everyone I interviewed with was pretty down to earth and would be easy to work with. Also, at least last year they paid for your hotel room and took you out for a pretty nice dinner.

If you are willing to live in Indianapolis I would encourage you to interview there.

Nobody does !

I think Indiana is a solid university program, if you want to be in indianapolis, all the better.
I met a bunch of their residents at a board review course they all bitched about how bad their call is because they cover something like 5 hospitals. Also, the integration between the program components at the different (competing) hospitals was an issue with teaching being a 'variable' priority at some of the hospitals. That said, bitching about call and quality of teaching is in the ABRs 'radiology residents bill of rights' and as such a natural occuring phenomenon. The only radiology residents who don't bitch are the brainwashed automatons at some of the 'elite' programs who would never admit that things are anything but perfect at a place good enough to take them.
