Hey I'm just pre-vet and I know that your track likely changes once you get into vet school and see what there is to be had, but right now I've been thinking about trying some kind of track based on Immunology. Problem is, I'm not entirely sure what's out there.

Is anyone here going/gone along a similar track? And if so, what opportunities are there in such a track? Is it just research or are there other options as well?

I've been perusing websites for information but there's no website (that I've found at least) that says 'here's the track, here's some options'.

That sounds like a DVM/Ph.D. or at least DVM/MS track. If I were you, I'd do undergrad/volunteer research in immunology and apply to DVM/Ph.D. programs. A lot of DVMs do their Ph.D. training afterwards, so that's also a possibility. Then, you could move into a professor track at a vet school.

Well I don't want to teach. Problem is the two applications I can think of for immunology is just research and teaching, both of which I don't want to do. I know I don't want to do research from having worked in labs, and I highly doubt I'd enjoy teaching.

So, I'm not sure what else there is. Perhaps you want to specialize in allergies and autoimmune disorders? Then perhaps you'd do a residency in internal medicine or dermatology, and join the Academy of Veterinary Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

Perhaps. That's what I'm looking for, things that can be done in that field. Couldn't find anything through Google so I thought some of ya'll might have ideas.
