Anyone from Canada Applying to US Schools?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am planning to apply, but have not yet decided on the schools. Which schools are you applying to. I am in my final year BS (Biology).

Most of the US schools require the pre-requisite "Speech communication". I am yet to identify a College/University that is offering this pre-requisite in Ontario.

If I decide to take this pre-requisite in the US during June & July, I am not sure if I will have enough time to transfer the credit to the Pharmacy schools after July.

Would appreciate any advise from the valuable members of this forum.

omg... i have like the same problem... almost every school requires a course in speech communication or public debate and i don't have that and uoft doesnt offer it... taking it in the summer would be too late for many schools.. and i plan on graduating by april so they wont let me enroll in any courses in the summer... i was hoping to apply to some US schools to increase my chances but its not looking to good especially since applications need to get submitted soon... canada only has like 9 schools compared to the 100 plus in the US... schools like st. john's and manitoba are out of the question since they take only like 10 out of province students...:S anyways if anyone has any recommendations that would be great

APPLY TO MUN!!!!! I was an out-of-province applicant (British Columbia) and I applied to both MUN (in St. John's) and Dalhousie (in Halifax). I was offered interviews at both schools and was offered admission at MUN. Now that's out of 4 OOP seats MUN offers (up to 10% of the class of 40). The point is, it is possible to get into the Maritime schools as an OOP, even though the odds look very slim and you are competing for 4 or 9 (Dalhousie) OOP seats. I suspect that there aren't that many OOP applicants to these schools, since many students will discount the school right off the bat, thinking there's no way in hell they'll get in, and simply do not bother applying. If money is not an issue, apply to these schools and you'll likely be offered an interview. The applications for these schools are quite simple as well (no PCAT, no essays, no reference letters). MUN was a really nice school too, despite being in Newfoundland.

Don't bother with Manitoba, though 😉

I have a friend who came from Toronto who got accepted at Ohio State and several other pharmacy schools. I have heard that school is Canada is a bit more rigorous than here in USA.

Markovnikov, do you know what other schools your friend from Toronto applied to and what his marks were like?
