you guys applying to canadian or american pharm schools, or both (like me)

where do you live in canada and what shcools u wanna get into????

do schools like canadian applicants???

i live in southern ontario and i'm applying this year to Uni of Buffalo pharm school and Uni of Toronto pharm school....

buff is my first option though

I'm from Newfoundland, Canada. I applied this year and got into Memorial Univeristy's School of Pharmacy.

Schools in the US require at least two years pre-reqs, it'll be very difficult as an international student unless you have a dual citizenship. Some schools dont accept international students, the ones that do don't usually exactly accept 'a lot'. I'd suggest applying to Canadian universities, at least you'll only be out of province which means higher chances, international student is hard and tuition will kill you.

ya i get your point

buttttt

i looked at some schools in canada and it's tough as well (out of province)
for instance, for uni of bc, only 10% of applicants are out of province, which totals about 10 applicants or so

i kno i'm applying to toronto for sure this year (i live in ontario)
also, if i dont get in, i will apply to waterloo, which will be built by 2007

if i'm not mistaken, for uni of buffalo, u dont pay international studnet rates
they have special programs/considerations for canadian studnets
i'd imagine alot of their students are already from canada since they are, what, only 45 min or so, away from the border

Yup, I'm Canadian.

I applied to three Canadian schools, got rejected by two out-of-province and am still waiting on word from the school in my city.

It seems like you have to be absolutely marvelous to get into a school outside your own province, as if it weren't tough enough to get into the one or two in your province.

Well, I'm not from Canada but I lived there for a couple of years. In fact, I drove by McMaster University several times. I didn't know they were creating a Pharmacy program at Waterloo. I knew quite a few people that went there and it was a great school for them.

On a side note, did you have to do OAC (grade 13) or something like that in high school? I didn't understand why they did that.

no, i was never in OAC

my generation was the second one not to have oac
there is no oac no more in ontario anyway

I'm in second year pharm at UBC.

There are a few students in my class from out of province. They are bright, but I wouldn't say they are stand-outs. Sometimes i really don't know how they pick and choose amongst the applicants.
